Donald Trump part-reverses Obama's historic Cuba deal

Donald Trump has signed into law the partial reversal of Barack Obama’s Cuba policy – reimposing restrictions on travel and business in a move he said would “empower the Cuban people and hold the regime accountable”.

Mr Trump told an adoring crowd in Miami that he was "cancelling completely the last administration’s completely one-sided deal with Cuba" - a statement that was greeted with wild applause.

His policy, however, provides only a limited reversal of his predecessor's moves. Embassies will remain open, trade will continue, flights will not stop, and the "wet foot, dry foot" immigration policy scrapped by Mr Obama will not be reinstated.
